TekRisk PRO
SaaS Platform for Industrial Quantitative Risk Analysis
What is TekRisk PRO?#
TekRisk PRO is a web-based quantitative risk analysis (QRA) platform designed for industrial safety engineers, environmental consultants, and decision-makers in the chemical and oil & gas industries.
The platform centralizes consequence modeling, individual and societal risk analysis, and professional report generation in a single tool — eliminating the need for scattered spreadsheets and specialized desktop software.
Key Capabilities#
| Capability | Description |
|---|---|
| Consequence Modeling | Simulation models for different industrial hazard scenarios |
| Individual Risk | Quantitative risk assessment by geographic location |
| Societal Risk | F-N curve with acceptability zones based on international criteria |
| Geospatial Visualization | Interactive maps with overlaid risk zones |
| PDF Reports | Professional documents ready for regulatory submission |
| Multilingual | Full interface in Spanish and English |
| Chemical Database | Integrated catalog of substances with physicochemical properties |
Consequence Models#
TekRisk PRO includes 6 simulation models covering the main industrial hazard phenomena:
| Model | Phenomenon | Typical Application |
|---|---|---|
| BLEVE / Fireball | Fireball from catastrophic vessel rupture | Pressurized LPG tanks, liquefied gases |
| Pool Fire | Flammable liquid pool fire | Hydrocarbon spills, solvents, fuels |
| Jet Fire | Pressurized jet fire | Leaks from pipelines, valves, flanges, and fittings |
| VCE | Confined vapor cloud explosion | Flammable clouds in confined or semi-confined areas |
| Flash Fire | Flammable cloud ignition without overpressure | Flammable gas dispersion in open field |
| Toxic Dispersion | Atmospheric toxic gas dispersion (SLAB model) | Chlorine, ammonia, H₂S, hydrofluoric acid releases |
Each model calculates impact zones at different damage levels, allowing assessment of the reach of an accidental scenario and its effects on people, equipment, and structures.
Risk Analysis Workflow#
Risk analysis in TekRisk PRO follows a structured 7-step workflow:
- Create project — Define geographic location, facility data, and study context
- Define risk sources — Register equipment, pipelines, or process areas and assign chemical substances
- Configure weather scenarios — Set wind conditions, temperature, humidity, and atmospheric stability class
- Run consequence models — Simulate accidental scenarios and obtain impact zones
- Define receivers — Locate populations, buildings, equipment, and infrastructure in the area of influence
- Evaluate risk — Calculate individual risk (IR) by location and societal risk (F-N curve)
- Generate reports — Produce professional PDF documents with complete results
Interactive Map Visualization#
TekRisk PRO integrates interactive maps with multiple geospatial visualization capabilities:
- Multiple map styles: satellite, dark, streets, and outdoors
- Overlaid risk zones: visualization of impact areas directly on the map
- Wind rose: directional petals for flash fire scenarios based on wind direction probability
- Differentiated markers: risk sources, receivers, and ignition points with distinctive iconography
- Measurement tool: distance measurement directly on the map
- KML export: download geospatial data for use in Google Earth and GIS systems
Risk Criteria & Standards#
Individual Risk#
TekRisk PRO allows evaluation of individual risk against internationally recognized acceptability criteria:
| Criterion | Country / Organization |
|---|---|
| HSE | United Kingdom — Health and Safety Executive |
| ASEA | Mexico — Agency for Safety, Energy, and Environment |
| RIVM | Netherlands — National Institute for Public Health |
| HIPAP No. 4 | Australia — Hazardous Industry Planning Advisory Paper |
| Hong Kong | Hong Kong — Risk Guidelines |
| EPA | United States — Environmental Protection Agency |
Societal Risk#
-
F-N curve with acceptability zones: acceptable, ALARP (as low as reasonably practicable), and unacceptable
-
Graphical visualization of the frequency-number of fatalities relationship
Probit Effects#
- Thermal radiation (first, second, and third degree burns)
- Overpressure (blast wave damage)
- Toxicity (concentration-time exposure)
- Domino effect (damage to adjacent equipment)
Professional Reports#
TekRisk PRO generates comprehensive PDF reports ready for submission to regulatory authorities and clients:
- Scenario data: chemical substance, physicochemical properties, environmental conditions
- Risk zones: tables and diagrams with impact distances by damage level
- Model-specific diagrams: visual representation for each phenomenon type (fireball, jet fire, pool fire, VCE, flash fire)
- Fatality tables: casualty estimation by zone and effect level
- Individual Risk Report: individual risk contours and average individual risk results
- Societal Risk Report: F-N curve with acceptability zones
Chemical Substance Database#
TekRisk PRO includes an integrated database with over 1,300 chemical substances and the properties needed for consequence modeling:
- General properties: molecular weight, boiling point, melting point, flash point, autoignition temperature, density
- Thermal properties: heat of combustion, heat of vaporization, heat capacity (gas and liquid)
- Flammability limits: LFL (lower flammable limit) and UFL (upper flammable limit)
- Toxicity indices: IDLH, ERPG-1, ERPG-2, ERPG-3
- Hydrocarbon mixtures: support for custom blends (Standard plan and above)
- Search: by substance name or CAS number
